Wayman Education is looking to connect with an ambitious History Teacher interested in their next teaching opportunity in Burton upon Trent. This role would suit someone who enjoys challenging pupils to question evidence, understand different interpretations and develop a deeper appreciation of historical events and their impact.

The School

The opportunity is aimed at teachers who value high expectations, structured teaching and a strong subject curriculum. The school environment would suit someone who enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues and helping pupils build the knowledge and skills required for academic success.

The Role

  • Teach History across KS3 and KS4.

  • Plan lessons that develop chronological understanding and historical knowledge.

  • Teach pupils to analyse sources and compare historical interpretations.

  • Support the development of extended writing and evidence-based arguments.

  • Prepare pupils for relevant GCSE assessments.

  • Assess learning and provide targeted feedback.

  • Contribute to departmental planning and the development of curriculum resources.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds QTS and a relevant History qualification.

  • Has strong knowledge of the secondary History curriculum.

  • Can deliver clear, engaging and appropriately challenging lessons.

  • Demonstrates effective classroom and behaviour management.

  • Can develop pupils' analytical and written communication skills.

  • Is committed to continuous improvement and collaborative working.

Salary

The indicative salary is MPS/UPS, depending on experience and the employing school's arrangements.
