Our client is looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join a secondary school in Cambridge from January. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who enjoys challenging pupils to think independently, helping learners overcome difficulties and demonstrating how Mathematics can be applied to real-world situations. The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering a well-sequenced curriculum that develops mathematical fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
The successful teacher will be expected to plan and deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. They will support pupils in developing confidence across a range of topics, including number, algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, ratio and proportion. Lessons should provide a balance of explanation, guided practice, independent work and opportunities for pupils to apply their understanding to unfamiliar questions.
The school is seeking a teacher who can communicate mathematical ideas clearly and use a range of strategies to make challenging content accessible. The successful applicant will use diagnostic questioning, regular assessment and careful feedback to identify gaps in knowledge and address misconceptions before they become barriers to further progress. They will also encourage pupils to explain their reasoning, compare different methods and develop the resilience required to solve multi-step problems.
The role will include supporting pupils preparing for GCSE examinations, helping them develop effective revision habits and providing targeted assistance where additional practice is required. The teacher will work closely with departmental colleagues to review pupil performance, plan learning sequences and share resources that contribute to consistent standards of teaching.
Beyond academic outcomes, the school values teachers who build positive relationships with pupils, encourage participation and establish a classroom environment in which learners feel comfortable asking questions and developing their understanding. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, flexibility and a genuine commitment to helping pupils make progress.
