Applications welcomed from experienced teachers and ECTs
Our client is looking to appoint an imaginative and committed Art Teacher to join a secondary school in Norwich from January. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who believes in the value of creative education and enjoys helping pupils develop their artistic abilities, visual awareness and confidence in expressing ideas. The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering a varied Art curriculum that encourages experimentation, independent thinking and the development of practical skills.
The appointed teacher will plan and deliver lessons that introduce pupils to a broad range of artistic techniques, materials and approaches. This may include drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media and the study of artists, designers and art movements, depending on the curriculum. Lessons should be carefully structured to build skills over time, enabling pupils to develop their understanding of composition, colour, form, texture and visual communication.
The successful candidate will encourage pupils to experiment with different processes, reflect on their work and develop individual creative responses. They will provide clear demonstrations, constructive feedback and appropriate guidance to help learners improve their technique and become more confident in making artistic decisions. They will also ensure that activities are accessible to pupils with different abilities, providing additional support where required while encouraging more advanced learners to refine and extend their work.
Alongside classroom teaching, the Art Teacher will contribute to the development of schemes of work, the organisation of practical resources and the assessment of pupils' portfolios. Supporting pupils with examination preparation and helping them develop the skills required for GCSE coursework will also form an important part of the role.
School Information:
The school is based in Norwich and offers an opportunity to join an educational community that recognises the importance of creativity within a broad and balanced curriculum. Art provides pupils with opportunities to develop concentration, perseverance, visual literacy and the confidence to communicate ideas in different ways.
The successful applicant will help create an environment where pupils feel comfortable exploring new techniques, learning from mistakes and developing their own artistic identities. They will encourage learners to take pride in their work, respond thoughtfully to feedback and appreciate a range of artistic traditions and contemporary practices.
This vacancy would suit a teacher who is enthusiastic about practical learning, organised in their approach to classroom resources and passionate about helping pupils discover their creative potential.
