Our client is looking to recruit an ambitious and dedicated Science Teacher to join a secondary school in Colchester from January. This vacancy presents an excellent opportunity for a teacher who wants to deliver high-quality Science lessons, support pupils in developing essential scientific knowledge and contribute to a department that values progress, curiosity and independent thinking.
The successful candidate will teach Science across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring that pupils receive a balanced and engaging education in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, in line with their subject expertise and the school's curriculum requirements. They will plan lessons that develop pupils' understanding progressively, using demonstrations, practical investigations, scientific questioning and real-world examples to bring the curriculum to life.
The school is keen to appoint someone who understands the importance of establishing clear routines, maintaining positive behaviour and creating a classroom atmosphere in which pupils feel confident asking questions and learning from mistakes. The successful teacher will assess pupil understanding regularly, provide constructive feedback and use assessment information to identify where further explanation, intervention or extension activities may be needed.
In addition to classroom teaching, the successful applicant will contribute to the wider work of the Science department. This may include collaborative lesson planning, preparation for practical work, moderation of assessments, examination preparation and sharing strategies that help improve pupil engagement.
