About the School

A school in York is seeking an experienced Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor to support the upkeep, safety and day-to-day operation of its buildings and grounds. The school requires someone who understands the demands of maintaining an active educational site, where maintenance issues must be addressed promptly and contractors need to work safely around pupils and staff.

About the Role

• Coordinate routine maintenance and planned site inspections.

• Allocate daily tasks to premises staff and monitor completion.

• Identify building defects and arrange appropriate repairs.

• Liaise with contractors and supervise site access in accordance with school procedures.

• Maintain records relating to maintenance, inspections and health and safety.

• Support fire safety checks, emergency procedures and general site security.

• Monitor maintenance supplies and report equipment or resource requirements.

• Help ensure classrooms, communal areas and external spaces remain safe and fit for purpose.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous premises or facilities experience within a school is essential.

• Experience coordinating maintenance tasks or supervising site staff.

• A sound understanding of school-site health and safety requirements.

• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

• Confidence liaising with contractors, senior staff and external service providers.

• The ability to prioritise urgent repairs and manage planned work.

• A practical and professional approach to maintaining a safe school environment.

An enhanced DBS check will be required in accordance with the role.
