Role Overview

A welcoming secondary school in Dudley is seeking a practical, creative, and enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher to join their Design & Technology faculty ASAP. In this hands-on role, you will teach Food Technology and Food Preparation & Nutrition across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE). You will inspire pupils to develop essential culinary techniques, understand nutrition and food provenance, and master kitchen hygiene and safety practices. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers are equally encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess engaging practical and theoretical Food Technology lessons in line with National Curriculum standards and GCSE exam specifications.

• Maintain rigorous health, safety, and hygiene standards in accordance with food safety regulations across all practical cooking spaces.

• Differentiate lessons to ensure all pupils, including those with SEND or EAL needs, can access practical skills and theoretical concepts safely.

• Manage food tech room equipment, ingredient requisitions, and storage facilities in compliance with COSHH and school health and safety policies.

• Track pupil progress using formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to maximize GCSE attainment.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Food & Nutrition, Catering, or a related discipline.

• Recognized UK teaching qualification with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS.

• Proven teaching experience or strong placement record in secondary Food Technology / Hospitality & Catering.

• Food Hygiene & Safety Certification (Level 2 or above preferred).

• Strong classroom management, practical supervision, and organizational skills.

• Legal right to work in the UK.
