Role: Teacher of Religious Education – KS3–KS4
Location: Lowestoft, Suffolk
Contract: Full-time, permanent

Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience

A secondary academy in Lowestoft is looking to appoint an RE Teacher who can deliver engaging lessons and help pupils develop their understanding of religious and non-religious worldviews. The successful candidate will encourage respectful debate, critical thinking and clear written responses.

The Role

  • Teach RE across KS3 and KS4.

  • Cover religious beliefs, practices, philosophical questions and ethical debates.

  • Develop pupils' explanation, comparison and evaluation skills.

  • Prepare relevant classes for examinations and assessments.

  • Use regular assessment to inform planning and identify learning gaps.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and wider school activities.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS and has strong RE subject knowledge.

  • Can manage discussion of sensitive issues fairly and confidently.

  • Promotes respect, inclusion and independent thought.

  • Has effective classroom management and communication skills.

The Environment

The academy aims to create a respectful and purposeful learning environment. The successful teacher will work with colleagues to provide consistent curriculum delivery and support pupil progress.
