Position: History Teacher

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term
Salary/Hours: £160–£250 per day, dependent on experience | Monday–Friday

Wayman Education is recruiting a knowledgeable and enthusiastic History Teacher for a secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent. This role would suit a teacher who enjoys bringing the past to life and helping pupils develop critical thinking, historical understanding and analytical writing skills.

The School

The school has a strong focus on academic progress, positive relationships and high-quality teaching. The successful candidate will join a team committed to delivering an engaging curriculum and encouraging pupils to develop a genuine interest in History.

The Role

  • Teach History across KS3 and KS4, with potential KS5 teaching.

  • Deliver lessons covering historical events, significant individuals and key periods.

  • Develop pupils’ source analysis, interpretation and extended writing skills.

  • Prepare GCSE pupils for examinations and monitor progress through regular assessment.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental planning.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds QTS and has a degree or relevant specialism in History.

  • Has strong subject knowledge and an engaging teaching style.

  • Can support pupils in developing analytical and evaluative skills.

  • Maintains high expectations for behaviour, progress and achievement.

  • Is organised, reflective and committed to professional development.

Salary

Competitive daily rate of £160–£250, dependent on qualifications and experience.
