Our client is seeking a responsible and organised School Site Caretaker to help oversee the day-to-day upkeep, safety, and security of a school in North Yorkshire.
This is a position suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining a secure, well-presented environment and understands the importance of keeping school facilities ready for use.
About the Role
You will be an important part of the school's site operations, helping ensure that the premises are secure, maintained, and accessible as required. The role combines practical maintenance with routine inspections, security procedures, and general site support.
Key Responsibilities
Opening and securing the school premises in line with agreed procedures
Carrying out routine site inspections and reporting potential hazards
Monitoring alarms, access arrangements, and general site security
Completing minor repairs and general maintenance tasks
Ensuring school buildings and communal areas remain clean and presentable
Assisting with preparations for meetings, school activities, and events
Coordinating with contractors and reporting maintenance requirements
Supporting compliance with relevant health and safety procedures
Experience and Skills
Previous experience in caretaking, site management, security, or building maintenance is desirable
An understanding of premises safety and basic maintenance procedures
A dependable and vigilant approach to site security
Good judgement and the ability to respond appropriately to issues
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with colleagues
Valid right to work in the UK
