The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher to join its Design and Technology provision at a secondary school in Watford. This position would suit a teacher who is passionate about food education and enjoys helping young people develop practical skills, understand nutrition and make informed decisions about food, health and wellbeing.
The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging lessons that combine theoretical knowledge with practical food preparation and cooking activities. You will help pupils develop an understanding of food ingredients, nutrition, food science, hygiene, safety and the processes involved in preparing and evaluating food products.
A key aspect of the role will be ensuring that practical lessons are carefully organised, appropriately differentiated and conducted in a safe environment. You will establish clear expectations for the use of equipment, safe food handling, cleanliness and responsible working practices. Through demonstrations, structured tasks and independent projects, you will encourage students to develop confidence, creativity and problem-solving skills.
The school is looking for someone who can make lessons enjoyable while ensuring that pupils develop the knowledge and technical skills required by the curriculum. You will assess students' work, provide constructive feedback and support them in improving their practical outcomes and theoretical understanding.
Applications are welcomed from experienced Food Technology Teachers, ECTs and suitably qualified overseas applicants with an appropriate formal teaching qualification.
