An excellent school in Redbridge is seeking a reliable and proactive Premises Officer to support the day-to-day maintenance, safety and security of its site. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the school premises remain secure, well maintained and ready for daily use. Working closely with the wider site and facilities team, you will help manage routine maintenance, respond to site issues and ensure health and safety procedures are followed.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out routine site inspections and identifying maintenance requirements.

• Supporting general repairs and basic maintenance tasks.

• Ensuring the school site is safe, secure and well presented.

• Opening and securing buildings in line with site procedures.

• Monitoring heating, lighting and other building systems.

• Maintaining outdoor areas, pathways and communal spaces.

• Reporting faults and coordinating external contractors where necessary.

• Following health and safety, fire safety and security procedures.

• Assisting with room setups and site requirements for school events.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous premises, caretaking, facilities or maintenance experience.

• Practical skills and the ability to undertake basic repairs.

• Good awareness of health and safety and site security.

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and respond to changing priorities.

• A reliable, flexible and professional approach.

• Good communication skills and a willingness to support the wider school team.
