Role: Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages – KS3–KS4
Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Contract: Full-time, maternity cover
Start Date: January 2027
Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience

A secondary academy in Cambridge is seeking an MFL Teacher to provide maternity cover from January. The school is particularly interested in candidates able to teach French or Spanish and who can help pupils build confidence in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

The Role

  • Teach French and/or Spanish across KS3 and KS4, according to experience.

  • Develop pupils' vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and spontaneous speaking.

  • Prepare GCSE classes for listening, speaking, reading and writing assessments.

  • Use varied activities to encourage participation and retention.

  • Contribute to shared resources and departmental assessment.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS and has strong knowledge of at least one relevant language.

  • Can deliver communicative, well-structured lessons.

  • Uses clear modelling and regular retrieval practice.

  • Is committed to improving pupils' confidence and attainment.

The Environment

The MFL department promotes language practice and collaborative planning. The successful candidate will receive guidance on existing schemes of work to support a smooth start to the maternity-cover period.
