An oversubscribed secondary academy in Luton is seeking a committed English Teacher to join its department as soon as possible. The school is looking for someone who can deliver engaging lessons, develop pupils' literacy skills and support strong progress in English Language and Literature.

The Role

  • Teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Deliver lessons covering creative writing, analytical reading, poetry and set texts.

  • Prepare GCSE pupils through structured exam practice and targeted feedback.

  • Adapt teaching to support pupils with different starting points.

  • Contribute to shared planning, assessment and departmental development.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has strong subject knowledge and effective classroom management.

  • Can motivate pupils and maintain high expectations.

  • Is available to begin at short notice.

The school offers an established English department, shared curriculum resources and opportunities for professional development. The temporary-to-permanent arrangement may provide a route into a longer-term position.
