Wayman Education is seeking an engaging Sociology Teacher who can encourage students to think critically about society, culture, identity and social change. This opportunity would suit a teacher who can lead thoughtful discussions and help students develop strong analytical and essay-writing skills.

The School

The school aims to foster curiosity, respect and independent thought. Students are encouraged to examine different viewpoints, evaluate evidence and develop a deeper understanding of social issues and institutions.

The Role

  • Teach Sociology at KS5, with related social science teaching where appropriate.

  • Deliver lessons covering sociological theories, research methods and social institutions.

  • Develop students' essay-writing, evaluation and examination skills.

  • Monitor progress and provide targeted feedback to improve outcomes.

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and support students preparing for further study.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification, where required for the role.

  • Has a relevant Sociology or Social Sciences background.

  • Can make complex theories accessible and engaging.

  • Encourages balanced discussion, critical thinking and evidence-based arguments.

  • Is committed to high standards and student achievement.

Salary

Competitive salary, dependent on experience, qualifications and the school's pay structure.
