We are currently recruiting for a skilled and creative Design Technology Technician to join a vibrant and well-equipped DT department in a leading school in Westminster. Role: Design Technology Technician
Location: Westminster, Central London
Start Date: Immediate / As soon as possible
Salary: Competitive (Dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time (Permanent or long-term temporary options available)
Environment: Modern workshops, well-resourced department, and supportive teaching staff
Key Responsibilities:
Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for woodwork, metalwork, plastics, and graphics lessons.
Maintaining, servicing, and repairing workshop machinery, hand tools, and equipment to ensure high safety standards.
Assisting teachers during practical lessons and providing technical guidance to students on workshop safety and equipment use.
Managing stock levels, ordering raw materials, and keeping the workspace organized and clean.
Ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and COSHH guidelines within the department.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a DT/Workshop Technician or a relevant technical/craft background (e.g., carpentry, product design, engineering).
Strong practical skills and familiarity with workshop machinery (such as laser cutters, 3D printers, saws, and pillar drills).
Good understanding of health and safety procedures in a practical workshop environment.
