An academically rigorous secondary school in Oxford is seeking an inspiring Teacher of Chemistry to join its Science faculty on a full-time, permanent basis starting in January.
Job Overview
Chemistry plays a prominent role in this school’s academic curriculum. The successful applicant will deliver practical and theoretical Chemistry lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE Separate & Combined Science), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Chemistry).
Working closely with a collaborative STEM team and laboratory technicians, you will guide pupils through chemical bonding, reaction kinetics, organic synthesis, and required practical assessments. This is a full-time, permanent contract starting in January.
Key Responsibilities
Teach engaging, practical, and theoretical Chemistry lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5
Plan and execute safe chemical experiments in strict compliance with CLEAPSS and COSHH guidelines
Prepare pupils for GCSE and A-Level required practicals, quantitative chemistry problems, and written papers
Maintain laboratory equipment, fume cupboards, and chemical inventories safely alongside technical staff
Assess, track, and report on student progress using formal mock examinations and regular classwork
Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor, supporting student wellbeing and personal development

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)
Honors degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific field
Proven track record (or clear potential during training) for delivering strong GCSE/A-Level Chemistry outcomes
Deep practical laboratory skills and up-to-date knowledge of CLEAPSS/COSHH safety rules
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
