Contract: Full-time, fixed-term for one academic year

Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience

A rural comprehensive school is looking for a committed English Teacher to join its teaching team at short notice. The successful candidate will deliver well-structured lessons that develop pupils' confidence in reading, writing and spoken communication.

The Role

  • Teach English across KS3 and KS4, following established schemes of work.

  • Deliver lessons that develop comprehension, vocabulary, written accuracy and literary analysis.

  • Support GCSE preparation through regular exam-style activities.

  • Assess pupils' work and provide clear, constructive feedback.

  • Work with colleagues to support pupils who require additional academic guidance.

The Candidate

  • Has QTS and a sound understanding of the English curriculum.

  • Can deliver purposeful lessons with clear learning objectives.

  • Demonstrates patience, consistency and positive behaviour management.

  • Is adaptable and able to join an existing department quickly.

The school has a community-focused ethos and values strong relationships between staff and pupils. The English team shares planning resources and works collaboratively to maintain consistent teaching standards.
