An inclusive community primary school in Ipswich is looking to appoint a nurturing and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher. The school places a strong emphasis on early literacy, numeracy and personal development, helping pupils make a confident transition from Reception into Key Stage 1.
The successful teacher will create a structured, engaging classroom environment that supports pupils at different stages of development.
The Role
Year 1 Teaching: Take responsibility for the teaching, learning and pastoral needs of the class.
Phonics: Deliver systematic phonics teaching and reinforce early reading skills throughout the school day.
Literacy: Develop handwriting, vocabulary, sentence construction and reading comprehension.
Mathematics: Build secure foundations in number, calculation and practical problem-solving.
Continuous Assessment: Monitor individual progress and identify pupils who may require additional intervention.
Classroom Environment: Establish clear routines that support independence and positive behaviour.
Family Communication: Work with parents and carers to encourage consistent support for learning.
The Candidate
QTS.
Experience teaching in EYFS or KS1.
Strong knowledge of early reading and phonics.
Patient, organised and nurturing approach.
Ability to adapt teaching to meet different learning needs.
Effective communication and classroom-management skills.
