Role Overview

A vibrant and creative primary school in Lambeth is seeking an enthusiastic, nurturing, and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join their Key Stage 1 team ASAP. In this key role, you will lead young learners through the crucial transition from Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) into formal Key Stage 1 education. You will create a supportive, stimulating, and play-infused classroom environment that develops confidence, curiosity, early literacy, and numerical fluency. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers are equally encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum.

• Lead daily systematic synthetic phonics sessions to build early reading fluency and prepare pupils for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check.

• Establish clear, warm classroom routines that bridge the gap between EYFS continuous provision and structured Key Stage 1 learning.

• Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, the SENCO, and pastoral support leads to ensure tailored interventions for pupils with SEND or EAL needs.

• Maintain positive, collaborative communication with parents and carers to share pupil milestones and support home learning.

Key Requirements

• Recognized UK teaching qualification with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).

• Proven teaching experience or strong placement record within Key Stage 1 or EYFS.

• Strong proficiency in accredited systematic synthetic phonics schemes (e.g., Read Write Inc., Little Wandle, or Sounds-Write).

• Excellent classroom management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Legal right to work in the UK.
