Our client is looking to appoint a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Economics Teacher to join a secondary school in Cambridge. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys bringing economic theory to life and helping students understand how economic decisions influence individuals, businesses, governments and society as a whole.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging and well-structured Economics lessons, supporting students in developing the analytical skills, subject knowledge and critical thinking required for academic success. The role would suit someone who can explain complex economic concepts clearly, encourage students to evaluate competing viewpoints and connect classroom learning with current economic developments and real-world examples.

The Role and Responsibilities:
Teach Economics at the relevant secondary and post-16 levels offered by the school, in accordance with the successful candidate's timetable and subject expertise.
Plan and deliver structured lessons that develop students' understanding of economic principles and terminology.
Cover relevant topics such as supply and demand, market structures, inflation, unemployment, economic growth, taxation and government policy, where appropriate to the curriculum.
Use current economic examples to demonstrate the relevance of classroom learning to businesses, households and the wider economy.
Develop students' ability to interpret graphs, analyse numerical information and evaluate economic arguments.
Prepare students for assessments and examinations through structured practice, revision activities and constructive feedback.
Monitor attainment and progress, identifying students who may benefit from additional explanation or targeted intervention.
Differentiate teaching to support students with varying levels of confidence, prior knowledge and academic ability.
Maintain high expectations for behaviour, participation and independent study.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop curriculum materials and share effective teaching practice.
Encourage students to develop independent research, critical thinking and evidence-based decision-making skills.
Experience and Qualifications:
A qualified Economics Teacher with appropriate subject knowledge for the classes being taught.
QTS, a PGCE or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Strong knowledge of Economics and the ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible manner.
Experience planning lessons that develop analytical writing, evaluation and data interpretation.
Confidence in preparing students for formal assessments and examinations.
Effective classroom management and a commitment to inclusive teaching.
Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
A commitment to safeguarding and the academic development of all students.
