A secondary school in Worcester is looking to recruit a proactive Premises and Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance, security and general upkeep of its buildings and grounds. The successful candidate will take ownership of premises-related operations, ensuring that facilities are maintained to a high standard and that issues are identified and addressed promptly.
The Role
The Premises and Facilities Manager will be responsible for coordinating maintenance activities, overseeing site staff and contractors, and ensuring that the school's buildings and grounds remain safe, functional and presentable.
Daily responsibilities will include arranging routine inspections, organising repairs, monitoring maintenance schedules and responding to facilities-related issues. The postholder will also oversee contractors working on site, ensuring that work is completed to the required standard and that appropriate health and safety procedures are followed.
The successful candidate will help maintain records relating to building inspections, servicing, risk assessments, equipment checks and statutory compliance. They will work with school leaders to identify maintenance priorities, plan improvement projects and manage premises-related expenditure effectively.
Additional duties will include overseeing site security, supporting the preparation of facilities for school events and ensuring that classrooms, communal areas and external spaces are ready for use. The role may also involve coordinating emergency repairs and responding to urgent operational issues.
The ideal applicant will be practical, resourceful and comfortable managing several projects at once. They should be able to work independently while communicating effectively with school leaders, colleagues, contractors and suppliers.
Requirements
Applicants should have previous experience in premises management, facilities coordination, site supervision or building maintenance. A good understanding of health and safety procedures, contractor management and routine maintenance planning is desirable.
Strong organisational skills, practical problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach are essential. Experience working within a school or other public-sector environment would be beneficial.
