A secondary school in Exeter is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Physics Teacher to join its Science Department. This is an opportunity for a teacher who can explain scientific concepts clearly, deliver purposeful practical lessons and help students develop confidence in their understanding of Physics.
Physics Teacher Role
Teaching Science across KS3 and Physics at KS4, including GCSE
Location: Exeter
Salary: MPS1–UPS3
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Start Date: ASAP
You will teach general Science at Key Stage 3 before delivering Physics at GCSE level. Topics will include forces, energy, electricity, waves, magnetism, particle models and atomic structure.
Your lessons will help students understand the principles behind physical phenomena and apply their knowledge to calculations, investigations and examination questions.
Practical work will be an important part of the role. You will encourage students to make predictions, conduct experiments safely, record results and evaluate the evidence they collect.
At GCSE, you will focus on developing students' confidence with mathematical calculations, scientific terminology and unfamiliar application questions. You will assess progress regularly and adapt your teaching to address misconceptions before they affect examination performance.

Physics Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
Physics Degree or related scientific qualification
QTS or recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching Physics or Science at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 Science
GCSE Physics experience
Strong knowledge of scientific principles and calculations
Confidence delivering practical investigations
Good understanding of laboratory safety
Strong classroom and behaviour management
Effective planning and assessment skills
Commitment to student achievement
Salary
The salary for this Physics Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
