A dynamic secondary school in Bournemouth, Dorset, is seeking an inspiring Head of Business Studies to lead its vocational and academic business courses on a full-time, permanent basis starting in January.
Job Overview
Business Studies plays a vital role in this school's Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 curriculum. The successful applicant will take leadership responsibility for GCSE Business, A-Level Business, and BTEC/CTEC Vocational Business qualifications.
Working alongside Social Sciences teachers, you will manage curriculum design, internal BTEC verification, enterprise competitions, and business lab technology. This is a full-time, permanent contract.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction and curriculum management across GCSE, A-Level, and BTEC Business courses
Teach engaging Business lessons across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5
Act as Lead Internal Verifier (LIV) for vocational BTEC/CTEC Business portfolios
Coordinate Young Enterprise programs, corporate visits, and guest speaker events
Analyze student progress data, implement revision workshops, and oversee exam submissions
Line-manage department teaching staff and manage digital business resources

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS, QTLS) or recognized credentials with a degree in Business or Finance
Strong knowledge of secondary business specifications (AQA, Edexcel, Pearson BTEC)
Experience in vocational portfolio moderation and departmental leadership
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
