About the Role
As the Food Technology Technician, you will be the vital culinary backbone of the department, ensuring that practical cooking lessons and food preparation areas run smoothly and safely. Key Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients, equipment, and resources for practical food technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Maintain rigorous standards of kitchen hygiene, health and safety, and food safety compliance across all preparation and teaching areas.
Manage stock levels, order specialized ingredients, and oversee inventory of kitchen utensils, appliances, and consumables.
Support teachers during practical lessons by assisting students with equipment handling and basic culinary techniques.
Implement fresh, efficient systems for organizing food stores and keeping cooking workspaces immaculate.
Requirements
Relevant qualification in food science, home economics, catering, hospitality, or a related culinary field.
Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen, school food technology department, or a similar hands-on technical role.
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations, and health and safety protocols (such as HACCP principles).
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple practical classes and stock inventories efficiently.
A proactive, enthusiastic approach, with a warm and approachable manner when supporting students and staff.
