A welcoming community primary school in Plymouth is looking for a nurturing and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher. The school is committed to creating strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and personal development as pupils progress through the early stages of their education.

The Role

  • Year 1: Lead a Year 1 class and create a structured but engaging learning environment.

  • Phonics: Deliver high-quality phonics sessions and support pupils requiring additional intervention.

  • Reading: Develop early reading fluency, comprehension and a love of books.

  • Writing: Build vocabulary, sentence structure and independent writing skills.

  • Mathematics: Develop secure understanding of number and calculation.

  • Assessment: Monitor individual progress and plan appropriate next steps.

  • Pastoral: Support pupils' confidence and transition into Key Stage 1.

The Candidate

  • QTS.

  • KS1 teaching experience.

  • Strong phonics knowledge.

  • Patient and nurturing teaching style.

  • Excellent classroom-management skills.

  • Good understanding of early childhood development.
