Wayman Education is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a Secondary School in Crawley. The school is looking for a motivated and supportive individual who can work alongside teachers to help pupils engage successfully with their education.

The Role
The Teaching Assistant will provide classroom and individual support to pupils, helping them access lessons and participate positively in school life.
The role will involve supporting teachers during lessons, helping pupils understand tasks and providing additional explanations where required. The successful candidate will work with pupils individually and in small groups, adapting their approach according to different learning needs.
The Teaching Assistant will encourage pupils to develop confidence and independence, helping them organise their work, remain focused and complete classroom activities. They will provide positive encouragement and reinforce appropriate classroom behaviour.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to monitor pupil engagement and progress and will communicate relevant observations to teachers and pastoral colleagues.
The role may also involve supporting pupils with SEND and helping implement individual learning strategies. The Teaching Assistant will follow guidance provided by teaching staff and contribute to creating an inclusive classroom environment.
Additional responsibilities may include supervising pupils during break and lunch periods, supporting school trips and assisting with extracurricular activities. The successful candidate may also help prepare classroom resources and maintain an organised learning environment.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children or young people. Experience within a school environment would be beneficial, although relevant experience in youth work, childcare, mentoring or education support will also be considered.
The successful applicant should be patient, reliable and able to communicate effectively with pupils and staff. The ability to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries is essential.
An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures is required. Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs would be advantageous.
