A specialist school in Manchester supporting primary-aged pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs is looking to appoint a resilient and compassionate Primary Teacher. The school provides a highly supportive environment for pupils who may have struggled within mainstream education.
This position would suit a qualified teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and enjoys adapting teaching to meet individual needs. Previous SEND or SEMH experience would be highly beneficial, although applications from strong mainstream primary teachers with a genuine interest in specialist education will also be considered.
The Role
Specialist Teaching: Deliver engaging lessons to primary-aged pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs.
Differentiation: Adapt curriculum content, teaching approaches and resources to meet individual learning profiles.
Behaviour: Establish clear boundaries and consistent routines while maintaining a calm and nurturing classroom.
Individual Plans: Contribute to pupil targets, support plans and progress reviews.
Communication: Work closely with therapists, support workers, families and other professionals.
Intervention: Deliver targeted literacy, numeracy and social-development activities.
Progress: Track academic and personal development and celebrate individual achievements.
Safeguarding: Maintain a strong awareness of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
The Candidate
QTS.
Primary teaching experience.
SEND, SEMH or alternative-provision experience is desirable.
Strong behaviour-management skills.
Calm, patient and resilient approach.
Excellent understanding of differentiated teaching.
Able to build trusting relationships with pupils.
Willingness to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
