A high-performing primary academy in Nottingham is looking to appoint an ambitious and enthusiastic Year 6 Teacher to join its established teaching team as soon as possible. The school has high expectations for both attainment and behaviour and is committed to providing pupils with a broad, challenging and engaging education.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is confident delivering the KS2 curriculum and who enjoys preparing pupils for the transition into secondary education. The Role
Year 6 Leadership: Take full responsibility for a Year 6 class, establishing clear routines, high expectations and a positive learning culture from the outset.
Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging lessons across English, mathematics, science and the wider primary curriculum, ensuring lessons are appropriately differentiated.
SATs Preparation: Prepare pupils effectively for statutory assessments while maintaining a broad and balanced curriculum.
Assessment: Use formative and summative assessment to identify gaps in knowledge and adapt teaching accordingly.
Intervention: Work with teaching assistants and intervention staff to provide targeted support to pupils requiring additional challenge or intervention.
Pastoral Care: Build strong relationships with pupils and families, supporting both academic progress and personal development.
Transition: Help pupils develop the independence, resilience and organisational skills required for secondary school.
The Candidate
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Strong experience teaching within KS2, ideally Year 5 or Year 6.
Good knowledge of the National Curriculum and statutory assessment requirements.
Confident planning for pupils with a wide range of abilities.
Strong classroom management and behaviour-management skills.
Able to use assessment data effectively to improve pupil outcomes.
Excellent communication skills when working with parents, colleagues and external professionals.
A reflective and ambitious teacher who is committed to continued professional development.
