An outstanding school in Wandsworth is seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCO to lead and develop its SEND provision. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educational leader who is committed to ensuring that all pupils receive the support they need to achieve their full potential.
The SENCO role is a key leadership position within schools, responsible for coordinating provision, supporting staff and ensuring pupils with SEND receive high-quality support and inclusive learning opportunities. SENCOs must be qualified teachers and are required to complete the mandatory SENCO National Professional Qualification within three years of appointment, where applicable.
About the Role
The successful candidate will oversee the strategic development and day-to-day management of SEND provision across the school. You will work closely with senior leaders, teachers, support staff, families and external agencies to ensure pupils with additional needs are effectively supported.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and coordinating SEND provision across the school.
Managing the SEND register and ensuring accurate records are maintained.
Supporting teachers with strategies to meet pupils' additional needs.
Monitoring pupil progress and evaluating the impact of interventions.
Working closely with parents, carers and external agencies.
Coordinating EHCP reviews and statutory processes.
Delivering staff training and promoting inclusive teaching practices.
Contributing to the strategic development of SEND provision.
What We’re Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Previous experience working within SEND provision or in a SENCO role.
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
Experience working with EHCPs and external agencies.
Commitment to inclusive education and improving outcomes for pupils.
SENCO qualification or willingness to complete the mandatory NPQ where required.
