You will teach Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The role will suit a teacher with a broad Science background who enjoys teaching across the disciplines.
At KS3, you will introduce students to core scientific principles through topics covering areas such as cells, forces, energy, chemical reactions, ecosystems and electricity.
At KS4, you will deliver GCSE Science content and help students prepare for examinations. You will develop their ability to interpret scientific information, complete calculations, evaluate evidence and apply their knowledge to unfamiliar situations.
Practical work will form an important part of the role. You will provide students with opportunities to investigate scientific questions, collect results and understand how experiments are used to test ideas.
The successful candidate will maintain high expectations while adapting lessons to meet the needs of different learners. You will use regular assessment to identify misconceptions and provide targeted support.
Science Teacher - School Information
This is a secondary school in Exeter with a broad curriculum and a collaborative Science Department.
The department aims to give students a strong grounding in scientific knowledge while developing their ability to think critically and work scientifically. Lessons combine theory, practical investigation and real-world applications.
You will work alongside other Science teachers to plan schemes of work, share resources and review student outcomes. The school also supports professional development and encourages teachers to develop their subject practice.
Science Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
Science Degree or related scientific qualification
QTS or recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching Science at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 Science
GCSE Science teaching experience
Strong knowledge across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
Confidence delivering practical investigations
Understanding of laboratory safety
Good classroom and behaviour management
Strong planning and assessment skills
Commitment to student progress
Salary
The salary for this Science Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
