A prestigious co-educational independent school in Hampshire is seeking a visionary, academically distinguished Curriculum Lead of Music to oversee classroom music strategy, syllabus innovation, and academic outcomes on a full-time, permanent basis starting in January.

Job Overview
Classroom music education forms a cornerstone of this school's academic identity and cultural life. The successful applicant will take strategic responsibility for classroom curriculum design, assessment frameworks, digital music technology integration, and exam performance across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (Cambridge IGCSE / GCSE), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level / International Baccalaureate Music).
Working alongside the Director of Music (who oversees whole-school ensembles and peripatetic operations) and expressive arts faculty, you will lead classroom teaching, mentor department colleagues, integrate modern compositional software, and prepare pupils for top-tier university and conservatory entry. This is a full-time, permanent contract starting in January.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and review the academic Music curriculum across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (IGCSE), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level / IB Music)
Monitor assessment standards, tracking pupil progress, composition portfolios, and written analysis skills
Lead, line-manage, and mentor classroom music teaching staff, conducting peer observations and curriculum development workshops
Integrate digital music platforms and DAWs (Sibelius, Logic Pro, Cubase) effectively into key stage schemes of work
Collaborate with the Director of Music to align classroom learning with chapel music, ensembles, and annual concert performances
Guide Sixth Form candidates through Oxbridge, conservatory, and UCAS music applications, including harmony and counterpoint preparation

Demonstrated leadership capability with deep knowledge of contemporary music pedagogy and software integration
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
