Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) – Primary School in Clapham (ASAP Start)
A vibrant, inclusive primary school in Clapham, South London, is seeking a dedicated, highly organized Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join its leadership team on a part-time basis (2 or 3 days per week) for an immediate (ASAP) start.

Job Overview
The SENCO takes strategic and operational responsibility for the oversight and coordination of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision across Early Years, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
Working closely with the Headteacher, class teachers, Teaching Assistants, and external specialists, you will manage Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), coordinate targeted interventions, lead SEN support reviews, and liaise with the Local Authority (Lambeth/Wandsworth) inclusion teams. This is a part-time (0.4 or 0.6 FTE), ongoing or permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, develop, and implement the school’s SEND strategy and provision mapping across all year groups
Coordinate, review, and author Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) applications and annual review documents
Manage the SEN register, tracking progress and monitoring the impact of targeted academic and pastoral interventions
Liaise with external agencies, including Speech and Language Therapists (SALT), Educational Psychologists (EPs), CAMHS, and occupational therapists
Provide professional advice, guidance, and training to teaching and support staff to ensure quality-first inclusive classroom delivery
Serve as the main point of contact for parents and carers of children with SEND, conducting regular review meetings and family consultations

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials
National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO) or PGCert SEN (or willingness to complete/extensive SEN leadership experience)
Proven track record of managing primary SEND provision, EHCP processes, and multi-agency liaison
Deep knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, primary assessment frameworks, and inclusive pedagogical strategies
An active enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
