A high-performing, supportive girls' secondary school in Reading is seeking an inspiring, dynamic Teacher of Music to join its Expressive Arts faculty for an immediate (ASAP) start.

Job Overview
Music plays a central role in this girls' school’s curriculum, house traditions, and co-curricular culture across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Music).
The successful applicant will deliver engaging practical and theoretical Music lessons to lower-school pupils and GCSE cohorts, while supporting vibrant co-curricular music groups, seasonal concerts, and choir rehearsals. This is a full-time, ongoing or permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
Teach engaging, practical, and theoretical Music lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Music)
Direct and lead extra-curricular musical groups, including vocal ensembles, chamber choirs, and instrumental groups
Guide GCSE pupils through performance preparation, composition software (Sibelius/Logic/GarageBand), and listening paper analysis
Assist in organizing and executing termly school concerts, inter-house music competitions, and production showcases
Collaborate with visiting peripatetic music teachers (VMTs) to track pupil progress across graded exams (ABRSM/Trinity)
Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor, supporting the wellbeing, confidence, and personal development of female students

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT / QTLS)
Honors degree in Music, Music Performance, Musicology, or a closely related discipline
Proven track record (or clear potential during training) for delivering strong Key Stage 3 and GCSE Music outcomes
Strong practical musical skills (keyboard/piano accompaniment and vocal coaching skills are highly advantageous)
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
