Job Overview
History plays a prominent role in this school’s academic identity. The successful applicant will deliver engaging History lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE History), with potential Key Stage 5 A-Level History delivery.
Working closely with the Humanities department, you will guide pupils through key historical eras, cause-and-consequence analysis, and structured essay writing techniques. This is a full-time, ongoing or permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
Teach engaging, evidence-based History lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5
Guide GCSE and A-Level pupils through source evaluation, historical interpretations, and exam paper preparation
Utilize historical archives, digital media, and site visits to enhance contextual understanding
Assess, track, and report on student progress across analytical essays and formal examinations
Support extra-curricular humanities clubs, debate teams, and historical educational trips
Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor, supporting student wellbeing and personal development

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)

Proven track record (or clear potential during training) for delivering strong GCSE/A-Level History outcomes
Deep historical knowledge and strong essay-structure mentoring capabilities
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
