Role Overview
A high-achieving secondary school in Sheffield is seeking an enthusiastic, academically rigorous, and dedicated Chemistry Teacher to join their thriving Science department ASAP. In this role, you will plan and deliver high-quality, engaging Chemistry lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Combined Science and Triple Science Chemistry), with potential opportunities to teach A Level Chemistry depending on experience. You will inspire students to develop a strong passion for scientific inquiry and practical experimentation while maintaining high standards of academic achievement. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers are equally encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess engaging theoretical and practical Chemistry lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (and Key Stage 5 where applicable).
Conduct regular lab-based practical work, enforcing strict adherence to CLEAPSS, COSHH, and school laboratory health and safety protocols.
Track student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback and targeted interventions to drive GCSE attainment.
Work collaboratively with department colleagues and science technicians to prepare practical materials and share innovative teaching resources.
Contribute to department extra-curricular initiatives, such as STEM clubs, science revision drop-ins, and national competition entries.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
Recognized UK teaching qualification with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS.
Proven track record of teaching secondary Science/Chemistry, with sound knowledge of current GCSE and A Level specifications.
Strong classroom management skills and a firm commitment to safe laboratory practice.
Legal right to work in the UK.
