A thriving school in West Bromwich is seeking a practical and reliable DT Technician to join its Design & Technology department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical skills who enjoys supporting teachers and students and helping to create safe, well-prepared practical learning environments.

About the Role

The successful DT Technician will provide day-to-day technical and practical support across the DT department. You will work closely with teaching staff to prepare materials, equipment and resources, while ensuring workshops are maintained to a high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing tools, materials and equipment for practical lessons.

• Supporting teachers and students during DT activities.

• Maintaining, organising and checking workshop equipment.

• Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs where appropriate.

• Monitoring stock and ensuring resources are available when required.

• Keeping workshops clean, organised and safe.

• Following relevant health and safety procedures.

• Supporting the wider DT department with practical and technical tasks.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as a DT Technician, Workshop Technician or in a similar practical role.

• Strong knowledge of tools, machinery and workshop equipment.

• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.

• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• A proactive, flexible and reliable approach.

• Previous experience in an educational setting would be advantageous.
