The Role
The Spanish Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons that challenge, motivate and support pupils of different abilities.
Key responsibilities will include:
Planning and delivering engaging Spanish lessons across the relevant key stages.
Developing pupils' confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing Spanish.
Creating a positive classroom environment where pupils are encouraged to participate and communicate confidently.
Differentiating lessons effectively to meet the needs of pupils with a range of abilities and learning styles.
Setting high expectations for behaviour, effort and academic achievement.
Assessing pupils' work accurately and providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
Monitoring pupil progress and using assessment information to inform future planning.
Preparing pupils effectively for internal and external examinations where appropriate.
Supporting curriculum development within the Modern Foreign Languages department.
Contributing to departmental planning, meetings and wider school initiatives.
Encouraging pupils to develop an appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures, traditions and communities.
Using appropriate digital resources and teaching technologies to enhance learning.
Maintaining accurate records of pupil attainment, progress and assessment.
Communicating effectively with colleagues, parents and carers regarding pupil progress and development.
Teaching & Learning

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:
Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification.
Strong subject knowledge in Spanish.
Experience teaching Spanish within a secondary school environment.

Strong classroom management and behaviour-management skills.
Excellent planning, assessment and organisational skills.

Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
Experience teaching Spanish at GCSE and/or A-Level.
Experience preparing pupils for formal examinations.
Experience contributing to curriculum development.
Experience delivering enrichment activities, language clubs or cultural events.
Experience supporting pupils with additional educational needs.
An interest in promoting wider language learning across the school.
