Role Overview
A progressive secondary school in Dudley is seeking an innovative, energetic, and dedicated Design & Technology Teacher to join their creative technology department ASAP. In this role, you will deliver high-quality practical and theoretical lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Design & Technology / Product Design / Resistant Materials), with potential opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will play a pivotal role in inspiring the next generation of engineers, designers, and makers, utilizing both traditional workshop machinery and modern CAD/CAM equipment. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers are equally encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Design & Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, adhering to national curriculum standards.
Embed safe working practices in the workshop, enforcing strict adherence to DATA, CLEAPSS, and health and safety guidelines.
Utilize a variety of materials (timber, metals, polymers) alongside digital manufacturing tools (3D printers, laser cutters, CAD software) to deliver a modern DT curriculum.
Monitor pupil progress using regular formative assessments, providing constructive feedback and targeted support to ensure strong GCSE outcomes.
Collaborate with department technicians and teaching colleagues to maintain well-organized, safe, and stimulating workshop learning environments.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Design & Technology, Product Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Recognized UK teaching qualification with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS.
Proven experience teaching secondary DT, with a strong understanding of current GCSE specifications and practical workshop safety.
Proficiency with standard workshop machinery as well as digital fabrication technology (e.g., 2D Design, SolidWorks, laser cutting).
Legal right to work in the UK.
