Lead Examinations Officer – Secondary Academy in Bournemouth (ASAP Start)
A high-performing secondary academy in Bournemouth is seeking a detail-oriented, highly methodical Lead Examinations Officer to manage internal and external public examinations for an immediate (ASAP) start.
Job Overview
The Examinations Officer takes end-to-end responsibility for the administration, security, and execution of all GCSE, A-Level, and vocational public examinations throughout the academic year.
Working directly alongside the Senior Leadership Team, SENCO, and invigilation staff, you will oversee candidate entries, timetable exam halls, secure paper storage, implement access arrangements, and manage results day logistics in strict compliance with JCQ regulations. This is a full-time, ongoing or permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
Manage candidate exam entries, tier choices, and coursework submissions across awarding bodies (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC)
Create and publish examination timetables, rooming schedules, and seating plans for external and mock exams
Enforce strict Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations regarding examination conditions and paper security
Recruit, train, line-manage, and schedule a team of casual exam invigilators
Coordinate with the SEN department to implement candidate Access Arrangements (extra time, readers, scribes)
Download, process, and distribute results on official national results days, generating progress summaries for SLT

Candidate Requirements
Proven experience as a School Examinations Officer or Senior Assessment Administrator
In-depth working knowledge of JCQ regulations, awarding body platforms, and access arrangement guidelines
Advanced proficiency in school MIS software (SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom) and exam entry tools
Exceptional organizational precision, composure under pressure, and staff management skills
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
