A welcoming secondary school in Weymouth is seeking an articulate, well-organized Admissions & Student Records Officer to manage pupil recruitment, in-year transfers, and enrollment records for an immediate (ASAP) start.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an organized professional to lead student intake administration, acting as the primary point of contact for prospective families, local authorities, and feeder primary schools.
Job Overview
The Admissions Officer oversees the full pupil recruitment and transition journey, ensuring that enrollment procedures run seamlessly and statutory registers remain fully compliant.
Working closely with the Headteacher and pastoral teams, you will coordinate Year 6 to Year 7 transition days, manage in-year transfer applications, process Common Transfer Files (CTFs), maintain statutory registers, and conduct school tour arrangements. This is a full-time, ongoing or permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
Manage student admissions workflows for main Year 7 entry and in-year transfers across all year groups
Serve as primary liaison for prospective parents, handling telephone queries, school tours, and open evening logistics
Maintain the school single central roll and update student demographic profiles on SIMS/Arbor database systems
Liaise with Local Authority admissions teams regarding place allocations, appeals, and fair access protocols
Coordinate Year 6 transition paperwork, electronic data transfers (CTF files), and primary school visits
Prepare admissions statistical reports for the Senior Leadership Team and local governing board

Candidate Requirements
Previous administrative experience within an educational setting, preferably in admissions, student records, or attendance
Proficiency in school database management systems (SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom) and CTF file processing
Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication skills when working with prospective families
Knowledge of school admissions codes, local authority appeals processes, and safeguarding protocols
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
