About the School
A busy secondary school in Luton is seeking an experienced Attendance Officer to join its pastoral and administrative team.
Attendance is a key priority for the school, and the successful candidate will work closely with pupils, parents, pastoral staff and senior leaders to monitor attendance and address concerns at an early stage.
The Role
Responsibilities will include:
Monitoring daily pupil attendance.
Following up unexplained absences.
Contacting parents regarding attendance concerns.
Maintaining accurate attendance records.
Identifying patterns of persistent absence.
Preparing attendance reports for pastoral and senior leadership teams.
Supporting attendance improvement plans.
Working alongside Heads of Year and pastoral staff.
Maintaining records of attendance meetings and interventions.
Communicating professionally with parents.
Supporting referrals and communication with relevant external agencies.
Ensuring attendance information is accurately recorded on the school’s MIS.
Requirements
Previous experience working as a School Attendance Officer or within a school pastoral/attendance team is essential.
Experience using SIMS, Arbor or another school MIS is highly desirable. Candidates should have a strong understanding of school attendance procedures, safeguarding and confidentiality.
An enhanced DBS will be required.
