About the School

A welcoming primary school in High Wycombe is looking for an experienced School Caretaker to join its premises team. The school has a busy site with multiple classroom blocks, outdoor play areas, sports facilities and communal spaces, so maintaining a safe and well-presented environment is an important part of the role.

The school is specifically looking for someone with previous experience working within a school or education setting who understands the importance of safeguarding, security and health and safety when working around pupils.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily upkeep, security and general maintenance of the school site.

Duties will include:

• Opening and securing the school premises.

• Completing daily site checks before pupils arrive.

• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs.

• Maintaining playgrounds, outdoor areas and school grounds.

• Preparing rooms for assemblies, meetings and school events.

• Moving furniture and equipment when required.

• Monitoring heating, lighting, doors and other building facilities.

• Supporting fire safety and emergency procedures.

• Liaising with contractors attending the site.

• Reporting larger maintenance issues to the school leadership team.

• Ensuring classrooms and communal areas are safe and accessible.

• Responding promptly to maintenance issues during the school day.

Requirements

Previous school caretaker, premises or site experience is essential.

The successful candidate should understand the particular requirements of maintaining a school environment and have a good awareness of safeguarding and health and safety.

An enhanced DBS will be required.
