We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and inspiring History Teacher to join the teaching team at a highly regarded private school in Cheltenham.

The Role
As a History Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons that challenge students, develop their historical understanding and encourage curiosity about the world around them.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and delivering engaging History lessons across the relevant Key Stages.
Teaching a broad and stimulating range of historical periods, events and themes.
Developing students' ability to analyse evidence, evaluate interpretations and construct well-reasoned arguments.
Creating a positive and purposeful classroom environment where students are encouraged to ask questions and share ideas.
Assessing students' progress and providing constructive feedback to support academic development.
Preparing students effectively for GCSE and/or A-Level examinations where required.
Differentiating lessons and resources to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
Contributing to curriculum development, departmental planning and wider academic initiatives.
Supporting History-related enrichment activities, trips, societies and other opportunities beyond the classroom.
Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.
Supporting the wider pastoral and educational life of the school.
What We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for History and the ability to inspire students through engaging, thoughtful and challenging teaching.
You will ideally have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
A degree or relevant academic qualification in History or a related subject.
Previous experience teaching History within a secondary school environment.
Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for historical enquiry and debate.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
The ability to inspire students and develop their confidence, curiosity and independent thinking.
Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
The ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs.
A commitment to high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.
The ability to work positively and collaboratively as part of a successful department.
