The Opportunity
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative and inspiring Drama Teacher to join our school in Calcot and contribute to a vibrant and ambitious Performing Arts department.
This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Drama and committed to helping young people develop their creativity, confidence, communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging Drama lessons across the relevant Key Stages, contribute to curriculum development and play an active role in the wider performing arts life of the school.
What You Will Be Responsible For
Teaching & Learning
Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and inclusive Drama lessons.
Teach Drama across Key Stages in accordance with the school curriculum.
Develop students' performance, devising, analytical and evaluative skills.
Use a range of practical and theoretical approaches to support different learning styles.
Set appropriate work, assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain high expectations of behaviour, achievement and participation.
Encourage students to develop confidence, creativity and independence.
Curriculum & Assessment
Contribute to the development and review of the Drama curriculum.
Prepare students effectively for relevant examinations and assessments.
Monitor student progress and use assessment information to inform teaching.
Support students of different abilities, including those requiring additional support.
Keep up to date with developments in Drama education and examination specifications.
Performing Arts & Enrichment
Contribute to the school's wider programme of performances and productions.
Assist with or lead school productions, showcases and Drama events.
Encourage students to participate in extracurricular Drama activities.
Support rehearsals, workshops and performance opportunities.
Help create a positive and creative culture within the Performing Arts department.
Where appropriate, work with colleagues across Music, Dance and other creative subjects.
Student Development & Pastoral Support
Build positive and professional relationships with students.
Promote respect, inclusion, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning.
Support students' personal development through Drama and the wider curriculum.
Identify students who may require additional support and communicate concerns appropriately.
Contribute to the wider life of the school as a form tutor or through other pastoral responsibilities, where required.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate teaching qualification.
Degree or equivalent qualification in Drama, Theatre, Performing Arts or a related subject.
Experience teaching Drama within a secondary school or similar educational setting.
Good understanding of curriculum and assessment requirements.
Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
Desirable:
Experience teaching GCSE and/or A-Level Drama or equivalent qualifications.
Experience directing or producing school performances.
Professional theatre or performing arts experience.
Experience leading extracurricular Drama clubs, workshops or productions.
Knowledge of current developments in Drama and Performing Arts education.
