Role Overview
An ambitious secondary school in Croydon is seeking a highly competent, proactive, and efficient Senior Administrative Officer to lead their busy school office ASAP. Working directly under the Office Manager and School Business Manager, you will oversee day-to-day administrative operations, streamline office procedures, and line-manage administrative support staff. This is a key operational role requiring exceptional organization, strong technical database expertise, and outstanding communication skills to ensure the administrative functions of the school run seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily reception and administrative operations, ensuring a professional, welcoming, and safe environment for visitors, parents, and agency staff.
Maintain accurate pupil records, attendance registers, and admissions data on management information systems (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom).
Coordinate key school administrative cycles, including admissions, census returns, parent consultations, open evenings, and pupil reporting.
Line-manage and delegate tasks to administrative staff, receptionists, and reprographics personnel to maintain high productivity and service standards.
Assist senior leadership with complex correspondence, safeguarding administration, single central record (SCR) updates, and confidential documentation.
Key Requirements
Proven experience in a senior administrative, office management, or supervisory role within a school or educational setting.
Advanced proficiency in school management database systems (SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills with high attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle confidential matters with tact and maintain effective relationships with staff, parents, and external agencies.
Legal right to work in the UK.
