About the School

An outstanding and well-resourced secondary school in Cheltenham is seeking an experienced Design & Technology Technician to support its practical curriculum.

The successful candidate will work alongside teaching staff to prepare workshops, maintain equipment and ensure practical lessons are delivered safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing materials and resources for lessons.

• Setting up workshops and practical areas.

• Maintaining tools and machinery.

• Carrying out routine equipment checks.

• Supporting teachers during practical lessons.

• Preparing resources for pupil projects.

• Monitoring departmental stock.

• Ordering and storing materials.

• Cleaning and maintaining workshop areas.

• Following health and safety procedures.

• Reporting faulty or damaged equipment.

• Ensuring tools and machinery are stored safely.

• Supporting practical exhibitions and school events.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a DT Technician within a school is essential.

• Previous secondary school workshop experience.

• Practical knowledge of tools and machinery.

• Strong understanding of workshop health and safety.

• Organised and methodical approach.

• Ability to work closely with teaching staff.

• Good communication skills.

• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
