Wayman Education is recruiting a Finance Assistant for an Independent Primary School in St Albans. The school is looking for a reliable and numerate individual who can support the finance team with accurate day-to-day financial administration.
The successful candidate will assist with invoices, payments, financial records and general finance administration while working closely with school colleagues and external suppliers.
The Role
The Finance Assistant will provide administrative support to the school's finance function and help ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.
Responsibilities will include processing invoices, checking purchase orders, recording payments and maintaining organised financial documentation. The successful candidate will assist with supplier queries, monitor outstanding invoices and support the finance team with routine financial administration.
The role will also involve entering financial information into the school's accounting system, assisting with reconciliations and checking transactions for accuracy. The Finance Assistant may support the preparation of reports and provide information to senior staff when required.
The successful candidate will help maintain confidential financial records and ensure documents are stored appropriately. They will also assist with general administrative duties within the finance office and provide support during busy periods such as month-end.
Accuracy and attention to detail will be particularly important, as the role involves handling financial information and working to established procedures.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in finance, accounts, administration or a similar office-based environment. Strong numerical ability and excellent attention to detail are essential.
The successful applicant should be confident using Microsoft Excel and other standard office software. Experience with accounting systems would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
The school is looking for someone who is organised, dependable and able to work accurately to deadlines. Good communication skills and an understanding of confidentiality are also important.
