A high-achieving school in Birmingham is seeking a practical, organised and enthusiastic DT Technician to join its Design & Technology department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong practical skills who can support teachers and students with workshops, equipment and resources while helping to maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
The Role
The successful DT Technician will work closely with teaching staff to prepare materials, equipment and practical activities for lessons. You will help ensure workshops and classrooms are well organised, fully equipped and maintained to a high standard.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing materials, tools and equipment for DT lessons.
Supporting teachers and students during practical activities.
Maintaining and organising workshops, tools and machinery.
Monitoring stock levels and ordering materials when required.
Carrying out routine maintenance and basic repairs on equipment.
Ensuring workshops are kept clean, safe and well organised.
Following health and safety procedures when using and storing equipment.
Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the DT department.
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience as a DT Technician, Workshop Technician or in a similar practical role.
Strong practical skills and confidence using workshop tools and equipment.
Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and support teaching staff effectively.
A proactive and reliable approach to your work.
Experience within a school environment would be advantageous.
