An inspiring secondary school in Liverpool is seeking an accurate, organized, and proactive Finance Officer to join their business operations team ASAP. Working alongside the School Business Manager, you will take day-to-day responsibility for delivering robust financial administration, maintaining precise accounting records, and ensuring statutory compliance across all school funds. Key Responsibilities
Process purchase orders, supplier invoices, sales ledger transactions, and petty cash reconciliations accurately and efficiently.
Perform routine banking tasks, monitor incoming funds, and conduct monthly bank reconciliations using school finance systems (e.g., SIMS FMS, PS Financials, Civica).
Support departmental budget holders with routine balance monitoring, expenditure tracking, and variance reporting.
Oversee parent payment portals (e.g., ParentPay, SchoolGateway) for catering, educational visits, and learning resources.
Maintain accurate audit trails in compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and procurement policies.
Key Requirements
Relevant financial qualification (e.g., AAT Level 3/4 or equivalent) or practical finance experience within an education or public sector setting.
Proven experience in financial administration, ideally utilizing dedicated school finance software (FMS, PS Financials, Sage, or similar).
High level of numerical accuracy, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Clear communication skills for effective liaison with budget holders, suppliers, and external auditors.
Legal right to work in the UK.
