An outstanding school in Birmingham is looking for a confident and organised Attendance Officer to join its dedicated pastoral and administration team. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can build strong relationships with pupils and families, manage attendance systems effectively and play an active role in supporting student engagement.

The Role

The Attendance Officer will take responsibility for the accurate monitoring and recording of pupil attendance, following up on absences and supporting strategies to improve attendance across the school. You will work closely with pastoral staff, senior leaders and families to identify concerns and help pupils overcome barriers to regular attendance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Monitoring daily attendance, registers and absence records.

• Contacting parents and carers to investigate unexplained absences.

• Identifying patterns of absence and escalating concerns appropriately.

• Supporting attendance interventions and individual improvement plans.

• Preparing attendance reports and maintaining accurate records.

• Liaising with pastoral teams and external agencies where required.

• Handling sensitive information with care and confidentiality.

• Previous experience in attendance, school administration or pastoral support.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.

• Confidence using school databases and Microsoft Office.
